Why Soy Wax and not paraffin (as used in major candle companies’)?
Soy Wax is All Natural
Soy wax is derived from soybeans (which supports US farmers), a natural renewable source, containing nothing artificial and is non-toxic. Paraffin wax is made from petroleum oil (yes, what is used to make oil and gas) and produces harmful by-products when burned or melted.
Soy Wax Burns Cleaner
Soy candles are a much safer way to enjoy candles; they do not have toxins, or pollutants, which mean they are less likely to trigger allergies. Paraffin wax releases harmful fumes (naphthalene and benzene) which has been proven to be linked to asthma and lung cancer. Soy wax emits much less soot than paraffin, soot can discolor walls, curtains and furniture.
Soy Wax Burns Longer
Soy wax has a lower melting point than paraffin wax, which means soy wax burns cooler and will last longer than paraffin candles. Soy wax can burn 30 to 50% longer than paraffin candles. In order to maximize burn time, it is important to trim the wick down to ¼ inch before relighting.
